    OCTOBER

This month features a healthy dose of shark action, with the end of many whale watching seasons from South Africa to Tahiti to Australia to Tonga.....

    Sharks

lacassal.jpgThe Whale Shark season starts in Djibouti, which not only features unusual diving (the country sits at the southern end of the Red Sea) but also offers plenty of dry activities, like visiting Lac Assal and Lac Abbe, along Africa's spectacular Rift Valley.

Whale Sharks can also be seen further away in the Indian Ocean, in the island nation of the Seychelles, where unique research is being undertaken to protect these giants.

The Hammerhead sharks start to arrive in the Canary islands, and the Great White Shark season continues on Guadeloupe Island, Mexico.

The Manta Ray season in Tahiti ends, with the Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola) season continuing in Bali.

    Whales

humpbackwhales.jpgWhile Humpback Whales continue to be spotted off of Ningaloo Reef, the world's third longest reef (after the Great Barrier and Belize Reef) the Whale season ends in the Cook Islands;(Humpback Whales) Tahiti; (female Humpback Whales and their Calves) Tonga; (Humpback Whales) and South Africa (Southern Right Whales).
