    NIUE

Situated between Samoa and Tonga, Niue is the largest uplifted coral atoll on planet earth. As a part of Polynesia, Niue does have a unique culture, and has been administered separately from her South Pacific neighbors.

    THE DIVING:

Seasnakes is what makes Niue famous, and what interests most divers to travel here. The Niuen seasnake is found only in the waters around the country, where visibiltiy can reach 80 meters, and rarely falls below 30.

Coral caves, hollowed out over millenia before the sealevel changed, make for interesting dives, in water crystal clear and free from mass tourism.

Humpback whales migrate through here during the Austral winter (July to October) and can make interesting diversions from the stunning diving.

    What to expect:
Niue received few visitors, and has a unique, laid back feel compared to other SOuth Pacific islands that have long been on the international tourist map. Emigration to New Zeaoland has mean the population has dropped to less than 3,000 inhabitants.

    Getting There:
There are no direct flights to Niue, however connections via Fiji and Cook Islands make convenient stopovers from flights furhter afield.
