Grand Komodo Dive

Here is what Grand Komodo has to say about their commitment to the marine environment we love so much:

We use only mooring buoys and we are one of the donors for the mooring buoys installed in the Komodo National Park. Our outfit was used for the first mooring buoys installation in the Komodo National Park done by expert from Key Largo, FL in co-operation with TNC some years ago be providing our boat at very special discount and by handling the logistic of the equipments from Bali Barat National Park to our boat in Sape - Sumbawa, then transferred it back to Jakarta by truck;

We take inorganic waste to the waste basket in the harbours;

We do trash pick up everywhere we visit and dive and remove it;

We do not conduct nor allow reef fishing, or spear fishing;

At the end of March 2007 our newest vessel - mv Raja Ampat Explorer - was the venue for a conservation awareness briefing led by Conservation International. That was at Sorong's harbour - Irian. Our crew and the crew from various live-aboard dive boats who were in Sorong participated too;

A national TV - METRO TV - used our boats for filming underwater Raja Ampat last year (December 2006), and Komodo last month (March 2007, its beauty and thread. The name of the program on METRO TV is called ARCHIPELAGO;

We are one of the live-aboard dive operators who supported the tag system;

We have donated funds in the Raj Ampat region in order to support their marine conservation and community project;
